Finally, I have a Jeep again |

Some of you may have seen my last Jeep project, which was a 2005 Jeep Rubicon,
that I poured way too much time and especially money into. I loved the
Jeep and had a ton of fun with it, but at the time it was my daily
driver and was just not practical for my needs. I hated to let it go,
but ended up trading it in on a 2011 Tacoma.
I lost my ass on all the money I put into the Jeep, but thats the way
it is, you never get back what you put into a vehicle. In some ways I
wish I would have just kept it and found a cheap daily driver. But I
also didnt like the idea of wheeling a vehicle that I had so much money
in. Its hard to take a $40K+ investment and beat it to death in the
woods. I always knew that I would eventually have to have another vehicle to get back out on the trails with. I was considering building an older Toyota Tacoma, but after looking into the cost of doing a solid front axle sway alone, I decided just to go back to another Jeep. I found a great deal on a 1999 Jeep TJ Sport on Craigslist that had already been built up alittle. I normally like to build things myself, but this was too good of a deal to pass up, and I end up saving a ton of money not having to buy all new parts for it. Of corse I already have my own plans for upgrades, so I am sure there will still be alot of money thrown into this project like always. |

Here is a rundown of the Jeep specs as I bought it.
1999 Jeep TJ Sport 4.0L I6 Motor 5 Speed Manual 2.5" Rough Country Lift 1.25" Body Lift & 1" Motor Lift 33x10.50 BFG KM2 Tires Re-Geared to 4.56 Rear Chromolly Shafts Rear Aurburn Electric Locker Adjustable Rear Upper Control Arms Rear Bumper and Tire Carrier Aluminum Gas Tank Skid Aluminum Rock Rails Full Metal Doors Half Metal Doors with Soft Uppers Rear Cargo Rack Tuffy Center Consol Cobra CB with External Speaker Kenwood Radio with Pioneer Speakers All new Stainless Brake Lines
The Jeep is in excellent condition for a 1999, you can tell the
previous owner really took care of it. This is a rare find for a Jeep,
one that has some nice upgrades but was also not abused. I could tell
he did not offroad it much and not on anything hardcore. |

After some testing I noticed that the front brake lines were still stock and not extended, which tells me he never even had it fully flexed out often. The lines were quite tight when flexed, so I have ordered extended lines for it. | |

I am pretty pleased with the Jeep so far. Its certainly very trail
ready for the price I paid for it. I still have some things to finish
up before it sees any real offroading though. I kept my Warn M8000
winch, so that is going on this jeep. Once that and the brake lines are
done, I will be ready to hit the trail!!! |
